Privacy notice

Care Homes Solar ("we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This notice explains how we handle personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Last updated: 2026.

Who we are

We are the data controller for the personal data you provide through this website. You can reach us by email at info@carehomessolar.co.uk.

What we collect

When you submit an enquiry we collect the details you choose to give us — typically your name, email address, phone number, the name and location of your care home, and the content of your message. Our web server may also log standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type for security and performance.

Why we use it and our lawful basis

  • To respond to your enquiry and provide a survey or quote — our lawful basis is your consent and our legitimate interest in responding to potential customers.
  • To carry out work you ask us to do — performance of a contract.
  • To keep our website secure — our legitimate interest in protecting our systems.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry data only as long as needed to deal with your request and for a reasonable period afterwards for our legitimate business records, after which it is securely deleted. Records relating to completed work are kept for as long as required by law and warranty obligations.

Sharing your data

We do not sell your data. We share it only with trusted suppliers who help us run our business (for example, email and hosting providers), and only where necessary, or where we are required to by law.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, to object to or restrict our processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@carehomessolar.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

How we protect your data

We take the security of your information seriously. Enquiries submitted through this website are transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and access to the data you send us is limited to the members of our team who need it to respond to you. We use reputable UK and EU-based hosting and email providers, keep our software up to date, and review our security arrangements regularly. While no transmission over the internet can ever be guaranteed to be completely secure, we take reasonable and appropriate technical and organisational measures to safeguard your personal data against loss, misuse or unauthorised access.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses only the cookies strictly necessary for it to function, plus any analytics cookies you have consented to. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not build marketing profiles of visitors. If we use analytics, it is to understand in aggregate how the site is used so we can improve it — for example, which pages are most helpful to care providers. You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, and where consent is required we will ask for it before any non-essential cookie is set.

Marketing

We will only contact you about the enquiry you have made or work we are carrying out for you. We do not add enquirers to marketing lists without consent, and we will never sell or rent your contact details to third parties for their own marketing. If we ever invite you to receive occasional updates, you will be able to opt out at any time.

Children's data

This website and our services are aimed at care home owners, managers, trustees and other professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal data relating to children through this site. The residents of the homes we work with are never the subject of the data we process here.

Third parties and international transfers

Some of the suppliers who help us operate — for example email, hosting and analytics providers — may process data on our behalf as data processors under contract. Where any provider stores or processes data outside the UK, we take steps to ensure an equivalent level of protection through appropriate safeguards such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations. Our website may also contain links to external sites, such as the Information Commissioner's Office or manufacturer pages; we are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their own notices.

Automated decision-making

We do not carry out any automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. Any quote, survey or recommendation we provide is prepared and reviewed by a person.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised date.
